We had hoped to re-arrange the production of 9 to 5 The Musical to later in 2020. Sadly just one week before the 'get-in' for show week at The Elgiva Lockdown1 happened.
We had to take the decision to cancel the production .
The safety of our members, theatre staff and members of the public is our main concern at this time and without knowing what requirements there will be with regard to social distancing in a theatre environment we cannot continue with productions this year.
We have some good news in that we have secured the rights to Sweeney Todd for Autumn 2023, see 2023 Sweeney Todd
Synopsis:
9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, is based on the 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970's it is a story about three female co-workers fighting for recognition and respect in an office presided over by their sexist and egotistical boss Mr Hart.
Violet, Doralee and Judy fantasise about getting revenge on the man who is keeping them down and about living in a world where women are valued and respected in the workplace.
Will they see their dreams come true and will Mr Hart get his comeuppance?
This upbeat, hilarious musical is full of feel-good anthems it’s all about teaming up, standing up and taking care of business!
